If you wa nt to install W indows 2000 or W indows XP on your SATA HDDs with RAID
function s, ple ase f ollow the below ste ps.
STEP 1: Make a SATA Driver Dis kette.
A. In sert the ASRock Support CD into your optical drive to boot your syste m.
B. During POST at the beginning of syste m boot-up, pre ss <F11> key, and
then a window f or boot device s sele ction a p p e ars. Ple ase sele ct CD-
ROM as the boot device.
C. When you see the message on the screen, “Do you want to generate
Seri al A T A driver dis kette [YN]?”, pre ss <Y>.
D. Then you will see these messages,
Ple ase in sert a dis kette into the floppy drive.
W A RNING! Formatting the floppy diskette will
lose ALL data in it!
Start to format and copy files [YN]?
Ple ase in sert a floppy dis kette into the floppy drive, a nd pre ss <Y>.
E. The system will start to f ormat the floppy dis kette a nd copy SATA drivers
into the floppy diskette.
STEP 2: Set Up BIOS.
A. Enter BIOS SETUP UTILITY ¡÷Advanced screen ¡÷IDE Configuration.
B. Set the “SAT A Operation Mode” option from [non-RAID] to [RAID].
STEP 3: Use “RAID BIOS Setting Utility” to set RAID configuration.
Before you start to configure the RAID function, you need to
check the installation guide in the Support CD for proper configuration.
Please refer to the document in the Support CD, “Guide to SATA Hard
Disks Installation and RAID Configuration”, which is located in the folder
at the following path:
.. \ RAID BIOS Setting Utility
After step1, 2, 3, you can start to install Windows 2000 / Windows XP.
NOTE. If you install Windows 2000 / Windows XP on IDE HDDs and want to manage
(create, convert, delete, or rebuild) RAID functions, you still need to set up
RAID Operation Mode” to [RAID] f irst. Then, please set the RAID conf igura
-tion by using “RAID Utility for Windows” in Windows environment.

for Windows”, which is located in the folder at the following path:
